"A versatile and high firing pigment, dark green in the unfired state and generally producing an opaque green. In the presence of calcium it produces a grass green and with cobalt and magnesium, a blue-green. In high alkaline tin glazes it gives a deep pink (chrome tin) developing to purple if boron is present. At low temperatures (<950C) in high lead, low alumina glazes, red to oranges are obtained often with a crystalline structure; if soda is introduced the colour is modified to a bright yellow. In the presence of zinc the predominant colour is brown. Black under reducing conditions (1-3%)
